The degree stays with the university. The research is in Hokuto.

PIRI is not a Japanese degree-awarding university. Master’s and PhD awards remain with partner universities. PIRI provides a second supervisor, research infrastructure, and Hokuto fieldwork.

cotutelle

Cotutelle / joint PhD

The candidate remains enrolled at the partner university. A PIRI founder is the second supervisor. Two or more peer-reviewed papers are designed into the degree plan.

msc

Research master’s (1–2 year stay)

A research unit of an overseas master’s degree hosted in Hokuto. Ethics and synthetic or public data only — no raw biometrics.

postdoc

Postdoctoral and visiting

Advertised on JREC-IN / EURAXESS. Employment on Japanese competitive funds only after e-Rad.
